Micro-perforated Panels for Duct Silencing

Micro-perforated panels have been used for duct silencing for several years and are gaining popularity. This paper presents equations for the prediction of the sound attenuation by micro-perforated panel silencers. It also presents guidelines for the selection of silencer geometric parameters to control and improve silencer performance. The guidelines are taken from both silencer tests and theoretical analyses.
